The Lake- When Still Waters Run Deep
Blood red flows in ripples from it.
The sky is dark and cloudy.
Dead trees stand crooked and bent in water.
Fish flee from the vicinity.
A baby duckling comes my way,
and spooked by a sudden movement, turns away.
Still waters turn to swirling rapids
Consuming all, in twist and bend.
And now I know in my refrain.
This water is the end.
And when I look again
I see
His face, so bold, in front of me.
And lightning strikes the water; cold.
The splash showers red for all to see.
As I look out at what I’ve done,
The water still; is calm no more.
