The Faerie Chronicles Part 5
They were very shy creatures, who didn’t trust anyone very easily and would quickly be frightened away by too much noise, and that was the last thing that Laine wanted. She knew exactly where she was going, and made her way directly there, to a thick old oak tree that had been in the forest for all of her life, at least, and her parents’ lives too.
The trunk was so round, that it would take about five people to encircle it with their arms outstretched, and the canopy provided by its branches and leaves, was so wide that it actually created the most beautiful, enchanted clearing beneath it, which was exactly where Laine wanted to be, because that was where the faerie glen began.
Hamiss and Kurdah had never been there before and as they stepped inside, both gasped in a mixture of shock and awe. It truly was a most beautiful, and magnificent sight. Small shrubs and ferns blanketed the ground, while a small stream flowed lazily through the center of it, leading to a small waterhole, where water lilies blossomed and tiny fireflies flitted here and there, leaving delicate lighted trails in their wake. A family of wild rabbits lazed dreamily among the roots of the giant tree, while their young played among the foliage.
A mother deer and her fawn crept almost soundlessly down to the water’s edge and…
