The Cold Of Winter

A Poem

It’s here again,
Winter’s chilly glow,
Leaves are all gone,
Birds can’t wait to go.
Christmas lights on,
Cold winds a-blow,
Squirrels collect nuts,
Children wait for snow.
There are cards bought,
And presents gift-wrapped,
The growing excitement,
Christmas concerts a-rap.
But in all this cozy,
Christmas joy,
Do we spare a thought,
For the little girl or boy?
The forgotten children,
Left alone,
Or the people with,
No place to call home?
’Tis the season of giving,
And the season of love,
The season for celebrating,
A baby from above.
So, this cold winter night,
When fairy lights shine bright,
Let us spare a thought,
For the less fortunate.
