New Year, Same Me…

Wow! It’s been six whole months since I last updated this blog. I don’t know how many times I’ve opened up a new post page and then closed it again. Too many times.

The thing is, I was treating this blog like something for other people, and not for me. I lost the enjoyment in writing it. So, I took a break. And okay, it was a much longer break than I had planned, but well… you know… 2020.

Last year (Wow, it feels good to say that!) was a pretty horrific year for most people. It was a year unlike anything any of us have ever experienced before. We learned new words and associations for them. Lockdown. Bubbles. Tiers. Social distancing. All things that we’d barely even thought of before March last year.

We had to stay home. 2 metres distances. Extra hygiene protocols. And any number of other things that we suddenly had to learn.

And it’s not like 2021 has made any of these things magically go away. Covid didn’t just disappear when the clock ticked over to midnight. It’s still very much with us, and although we have a light at the end of the tunnel, in the form of the vaccine, we still have a long way to go.

Sometimes, thinking about this last year blows my mind. The world stopped, and yet it kept going, almost faster than ever before.
