I have had flashbacks for as long as I can remember. They often vary in intensity, but they are still there. I have written on this blog about two events in particular that I have regular flashbacks of.

You can find them here:

My Childhood Bully Threatened To Set Me On Fire

I Watched My Grandad Die

The thing is that people will often talk about having a flashback, and it can sometimes come across as not being a huge deal. Quite a lot of the time, people talk about them in a jokey kind of way.

FLASHBACKS ARE NO JOKE.

Another flashback I have on a regular basis is of when I found my friend dead in her room in 2017. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. It was one of the worst days of my life, and one that I don’t think I will ever truly get over.

When this happens, I experience these symptoms:

  • My breathing goes very shallow.
  • My breathing quickens.
  • My heart starts beating really quickly.
  • I feel fuzzy
  • I feel like I’m not really there.
  • My body also shakes.
