A Decade Of Experience

Ten things I learned

Twenty years ago, on Halloween, I had an encounter with my childhood bully, that has haunted me for years.

I have actively avoided Halloween since then. Although it is a holiday full of fun and treats for some, it wasn’t that for me. For the longest time, I have suffered flashbacks and debilitating panic attacks whenever trick or treaters came to call.

This year was different. Although I was worried, and, I’ll admit, a little anxious, no one came to our door, and the evening passed by without much in the way of drama.

HARD TO BELIEVE

It’s hard to believe that another decade has gone by, and it’s taken me quite a bit of time to reflect on that.

My life has completely changed from what it was like ten years ago, let alone twenty. Some of these changes have been for the better, and some haven’t.

A LEARNING EXPERIENCE

The thing is that, good or bad, all of these experiences have taught me something, and for that, I can be nothing but thankful.

The last ten years have seen people come and go from my life, and while sometimes that has been hard, I’ve come to realise that it was what was meant to be.
